PROJECT INTRODUCTION
This project is located in District 7, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, and focuses on the renovation of an existing house. The building is organised into two main parts, with the lower level functioning as an architectural office and the upper level as a private living space. While the office maintains a professional and minimalist character, the home above introduces warmth and a sense of protection through the use of slate. The model-making process involved four members, with me acting as the team leader alongside three Taiwanese students. Through this project, I gained valuable experience in teamwork, collaboration, and engaging with a real-world design scenario.
Lake View House
A renovation project that balances work and living.
The requirement for this model was that it could open from the top to reveal each floor plan, while also opening from the side to clearly show the architectural section. The model was developed with one fixed side wall that follows the shape of the house, while the other wall is connected through the floor plates using foam. It is divided into two parts: the lower wall is made from white foam and painted grey, while the upper portion uses cardboard to create a slate-like texture. One of the main challenges was the lack of fixed walls, which caused the model to feel unstable, so I resolved this by gluing the side wall to the ground floor to improve its overall stability.
