MODEL MAKING PROCESS
In this model-making exercise, I learned a lot about choosing the right materials, colours, and tools, and how each decision affects the final outcome. I struggled with the façade at first, especially when trying to replicate the timber pattern of Marramarra Shack, but with my tutor’s guidance I eventually found a solution using grey cardboard and overlapping layers. The interior was simpler to build, but it taught me important lessons about the relationship between open public spaces and more private, enclosed areas.
MARRAMARRA SHACK HOUSE
Centuries-old timbers and careful craft form a dwelling that bridges past and present.

Marramarra Shack is a quiet, creekside retreat built almost entirely from reclaimed timber, carrying the stories of the land and the people who shaped it. The design opens fully to the water, letting light, breeze, and landscape slip gently into the timber-lined interior. Every material choice likes old electrical posts, local hardwoods, repurposed jetty timber, gives the house a sense of memory and grounded beauty. The light footprint and off-grid systems honour the site and its deep connection to Country.
